Meet Susie Cump, PA-C
After finishing her undergraduate degree at Trinity University in Washington DC, Susie completed the PA program in 1987 at Emory University in Atlanta. Following graduation, she remained in Atlanta where she worked in Hematology/Oncology before relocating to Denver in 1993. There, she and her husband decided to trade the “high country” of the Rocky Mountains for the “low country” of Charleston, SC. to be closer to her family. During that time, Susie continued to serve the cancer community of Charleston. However, she and her husband missed the quality of life that only the Rocky Mountains can provide, so they relocated to Colorado Springs in 2013.
Susie had the opportunity to work in the gastroenterology field in Colorado Springs for 4 years, during which time she specialized in treating patients with Hepatitis C, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome along with many other GI disorders. She also became a speaker for AbbVie pharmaceuticals, which allowed her to educate residents, advanced practitioners, nurses, and medical assistants. In addition, she helped facilitate a much needed IBD support group in southern Colorado, which still exists today.
She is very excited to incorporate her GI and Heme/Onc knowledge and experience into her current position at Matthews-Vu Medical Group. Susie is passionate about preventative health and wellness, as well as educating her patients so they can be active participants in their own wellness journey.
When not working, Susie can be found on the slopes of Breckenridge skiing with her two teenage daughters and husband in the wintertime. She enjoys mountain biking or hiking when the weather permits. She also loves to read, travel, scuba dive, and play with her dog Bella. She hopes to conquer several 14ers next summer.
