Meet Joanne Vogel, FNP-BC
Joanne and her husband, David, moved to Colorado Springs in August of 2017 from the Hudson Valley of New York to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Niagara University and an MA in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from the University of Iowa. Afterwards, she worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatry at St. Luke’s Hospital in Iowa for 7 years. She graduated from Pace University in New York with a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1997. She worked in a primary care clinic integrating pain management protocols, addiction care using Vivitrol, and mental health care into her busy family care practice.
Joanne believes strongly in family practice and primary care, and that pain management can and should be accomplished within primary care, similar to other chronic illnesses. She practices holistic and patient-centered care, integrating both Eastern and Western medicine modalities and alternative treatments. She is looking forward to her new role at Matthews-Vu as part of the development of a collaborative, multidisciplinary pain management program.
She loves to swim and spin cycle, as well as do strength training using the eGym. She has been a member of the YMCA for over 35 years. She has 3 married children, one in Colorado Springs, a son in Ireland, and a son in Vermont. She is also loving being a grandmother of one.
